Curator: Daniela Labra

Dr. Daniela Labra (Santiago de Chile, 1974).

Lives and works in Berlin and Rio de Janeiro. Independent curator, writer and critique on contemporary visual arts. She is graduated in Theater Theory at Uni-Rio, Rio de Janeiro (1998). She took a MA in Arts at UNICAMP, São Paulo (2005), and a PhD in Art History and Critique at Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro – UFRJ (2014). Her thesis International Legitimization of Brazilian Art from 1940-2010 was awarded by the Gilberto Velho Prize for best PhD Thesis in Arts and Humanities in 2015. She got a Post-doc grant by brazilian CNPq agency with the project After the Future: Ruins and reinventions of Modernity in Contemporary Art (2014-2016). She works on projects with an emphasis on performance art and performativity, latinamerican modernities, contemporary brazilian arts, decolonial theories, art and politics. Professor at Parque Lage Visual Arts School, Rio de Janeiro (2007-2016). Art critique in the newspaper O Globo, Rio de Janeiro (2014-2016). Teacher at the courses Curating Performance Art and Art & Politics at Node center for curatorial studies.  Collaborates with Select Magazine, São Paulo.Member of Insurgencias.net. Chief curator at Frestas Triennial 2017: Between post truths and events, Sorocaba, São Paulo, among many exhibitions in Brazil and abroad.
